A common misconception I&#039;ve seen allover, is that when swedish viking age runestones or items are used, they are reffered to as coming from the province (swedish: &quot;landskap&quot;). For exampe, below a picture of a viking age brooch found in Sweden, it can say: &quot;Viking age brooch from Västergötland&quot;. And next picture, a viking age brooch found in Norway can be depicted, with the text: &quot;Viking age brooch from Norway&quot;. How can non-Scandinavians know that &quot;Västergötland&quot; is a province in Sweden? They can not, thus believing wrongfully that &quot;Västergötland&quot; (or whatever province named, in your case &quot;Gotland&quot;) is a country in Scandinavia. Please give Sweden credit where credit is due.</description>
